Instructors just finished five days of discussion and learning about sharing their research online. ASSETT and University Libraries hosted five Academics Online Week panel and discussion sessions each afternoon during the week of September 15 through 19. They discussed how and whether to publish research online, including in open access journals. One day, attendees learned about several research sharing platforms, including: Academia.edu, Mendeley.com, Zotero.com, Wordpress.com, Slideshare.net, and even Twitter! University Libraries introduced Scholar.colorado.edu, a new repository that will launch in October! Instructors and speakers weighed the benefits of creating a greater online presence to become more discoverable, while understanding rights as authors.
