Before moving into the Office of Undergraduate Education,Shelly was the Assistant Dean for Academic Advising and Student Success in the College of Arts & Sciences, where she oversaw advising services in that college.

In her current role as AVP, she is charged with developing a collaborative and consistent approach to advising services across campus. In this capacity, she works closely with advisors and advising leaders in each college and she oversees advising governance through groups like the Advising Council, comprised of advisor representatives from each college, and the Campus Advising Executive Council, comprised of advising directors from across campus. Through these groups, Shelly guides conversations about building a strong advising community on campus, supporting one another within that community, and simplifying the student experience.
