Elizabeth Garfield began her career at the University of Colorado Boulder in January, 2010 as the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. She graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Sociology from Vassar College and received her MS in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin. After working in marketing research and survey design for several years, she took a 180 degree turn and enrolled in the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
In 1997, while still practicing as a chiropractor, Liz joined the faculty at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, where she taught Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Nutrition classes before becoming the college’s Director of Student Affairs. After working as Associate Director of Student Services at DeVry University, she became the Executive Assistant to the Provost at Naropa University prior to joining CU.
As Executive Assistant to the VCSA, Liz was proud to serve on the Vice Chancellor’s Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT), where she was involved in policy discussions and strategic planning. She served on several hiring committees and as project manager for the division’s program review. As Executive Aide to the Vice Provost, Liz assists with scheduling and meeting coordination, served on the Foundations of Excellence Steering and Coordination Committees and the Academic Advising Committee, schedules First Year Seminar classes, handles department communication, maintains the Undergraduate Education website, and works on various special projects. She also served as Staff Council representative from 2016-2019 and is a member of the OIEC Review Committee.
A frequent volunteer at move-in and commencement ceremonies, Liz is honored to work in an environment that supports student development, success, persistence, and eventual graduation.
