Compete
NVC—a signature program of the University of Colorado Boulder's Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative—is a launchpad for aspiring problem-solvers and creatives. During this multi-round, multi-event entrepreneurial competition, teams can win a share of $200,000+ and pitch to a live audience at the Boulder Theater.
Who can participate?
Everyone at CU Boulder is invited to participate including students, faculty, staff and alums who graduated from CU Boulder after Nov. 1, 2026.
NVC participants can earn a micro-credential while gaining experience in creating a startup venture.
How does NVC work?
The NVC Season runs throughout the school year, culminating in the New Venture Challenge Finals in late April. As you and your team develop and refine your business venture, you’ll:
Gain firsthand insight into what investors look for in a fundable venture
Learn how to position your idea, business model and pitch to be more compelling and investment-ready
Work alongside experienced mentors
Gain proficiency in navigating the team work environment
Advance your skills during series of educational and tactical workshops
Polish your presentation during pitch practice sessions
Network with your peers, co-founders and CU Boulder Ecosystem members
