Treating Traumatic Brain Injuries
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) has become a well-known phrase during the past three decades, and that awareness has helped to boost research and education. But effective treatments still lag behind. Dr. Theresa D. Hernández, who focuses on improving outcomes following TBI, will explain the promise of novel interventions and what is next for treatment.
Theresa D. Hernández is a professor of psychology and neuroscience at CU Boulder, as well as a professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Dr. Hernández studies traumatic brain injury and concussion, using both basic and clinical neuroscience approaches. The goal of her research is to identify adverse impacts to the recovery process, as well as therapeutic opportunities to minimize these negative impacts and create better outcomes.
