Rebecca Ventura is a third year PhD student in Civil Engineering (with a focus in Civil Systems and Global Engineering) at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research interests include understanding what makes sanitation systems aspirational and how sanitation systems can be better adapted to meet individual household needs and preferences.
Rebecca completed her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign (UIUC) where she worked for the US Geological Survey on agricultural runoff and stormwater modeling and then for the Women in Engineering office at UIUC. Outside of work, she enjoys learning new languages and spending her time volunteering. In her free time you can find Rebecca practicing Spanish, volunteering with the Clean Water Science Network (an NGO), amongst other hobbies including long-distance running, knitting, and cooking.
