Senior Water, Sanitation, and Climate Change Expert

Ranjan, a Sociologist by education, is a senior water, sanitation and climate change expert, who
convenes two networks of civil society groups and other stakeholders working on water, climate
change, environment and related issues for the last three decades in both rural and urban India. He
has been recognised as the ‘Water Man of Odisha’ and also as ‘Climate Crusader’ in India, was
awarded with the first “Green Hero” by NDTV-TOYOTA in 2010; and many more recognitions. His
work experience ranges from grassroots to South Asia level. He has led water and climate change
initiatives benefiting grassroots communities, and has been leading regular campaigns, advocacy
efforts, research studies and journalistic pursuits on water, environment and climate change. Some
of the campaigns he leads are: #Youth4Water, ‘Healthy Rivers, Happy Cities’, and ‘Mahanadi Peace
Initiative’. He is invited to speak in various meetings, seminars and academies from local to
international institutions and universities, and has been a visiting faculty at Geneva University.
