Miranda Mello is a first year Professional Master’s student in Global Environmental Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. She received her bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering and Geoscience/Geophysics with certificates in Global Health and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2018. After graduating, Miranda worked at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a Water Supply Engineer where she reviewed engineering reports, plans, and specifications of drinking water infrastructure for compliance with code requirements and the Safe Drinking Water Act on a statewide level. Miranda also served as the state’s Water System Security and Emergency Coordinator where she coordinated interagency response to security breach emergencies at drinking water utilities including emergency sampling, system response and recovery.
While still finding her niche in the Mortenson Center, Miranda has an interest in humanitarian aid and increasing access to sustainable WASH systems. In her free time, Miranda is enjoying all Colorado has to offer like hiking, camping, and trying new breweries.
