Colorado native Dr. Michael F. MacCarthy is an Engineering for Development specialist (Water Supply, Indoor Air, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Household Technologies; Social Marketing & Social Change). He has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, international development and project management, including nearly a decade living and working in less-developed countries (as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, an infrastructure and community development engineer with international NGOs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, & Mauritania, and an engineering for development researcher in Madagascar, Bolivia, South Africa, Mozambique, & the Dominican Republic). Mike leads the Engineering for Development program at Mercer University (Georgia, USA), where he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental & Civil Engineering.
