Megan Ellery is a first year PhD student in Civil Engineering. Although she is still honing her research plans, she is interested in disaster recovery and resiliency and loves tackling problems from a systems perspective of people, policy, and engineering. She graduated from Penn State in May 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. During her time at Penn State she became passionate about working on complex global problems through her work with the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship Program where she worked to understand inefficiencies in the agricultural supply chain in Kenya and propose solutions to manage the inefficiencies.
When not in a classroom or lab, you can find her trail running, hanging outside with friends, reading, or trying new recipes.
