Kaitlin Mattos is a PhD student in Environmental Engineering and the Engineering for Developing Communities program at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Kaitlin has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering. She is based in Anchorage, Alaska for her PhD research which involves engineering and researching household water and wastewater treatment systems for communities in rural Alaska that don't have access to running water and safe sanitation. She works with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and under the advisement of Dr. Karl Linden at the University of Colorado. After completing her degree, she plans to continue working on environmental and public health protection in small, isolated and rural communities.
