
As the Director of Venture Developmeent, Stephen leads CU Boulder’s efforts to bridge Boulder’s and Colorado’s outstanding innovation community to university researchers who are commercializing their inventions. Stephen also manages the Entrepreneur in Residence program, and collaborates with Venture Partners' case managers to identify the best opportunities for the commercialization network.
Prior to joining CU, his diverse background includes the development and implementation of the Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business, and nearly a decade of fostering entrepreneurs and their ideas in two premier incubators: as President/CEO of CleanLaunch, at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; and Denver Ventures at Stapleton (CTEK Stapleton). He is also a co-founder of the Clean Tech Open, the nation’s most innovative renewable energy business plan competition.
Colorado educated, he earned his Master of Public Administration degree from CU Denver, having previously received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Denver.
