The National Association of Science Writers has awarded CU Boulder science writer Dan Strain an honorable mention in its prestigious Excellence in Institutional Writing Awards competition for his story “A Walk in Two Worlds.”

CU Boulder leadership members have given final approval to the campus’s new Lactation Space Policy, augmenting the university’s efforts to enhance gender equity and inclusivity and support individuals of all genders who are breastfeeding or chestfeeding children.

A CU Boulder policy makes parental leave available to more employee groups immediately upon their start date at the university, rather than after a set window of time. The new policy is interim as the university continues to look for ways to enhance equity and wellness for staff.

CU Boulder applicants will be able to apply to the university for free Oct. 18–20 as part of the statewide Colorado Free Application Days.

The Colorado chapter of the Public Relations Society of America honored College of Media, Communication and Information affiliates with Gold Pick Awards, and the Strategic Relations and Communications media team with three Silver Pick Awards for science-based stories and media pitches on health and tech topics.

Robyn Fergus, newly named CU Boulder’s chief people officer, currently serves as vice president and chief human resources officer at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She replaces Merna Jacobsen, who has led in an interim capacity since 2021.
