This Friday, members of the campus community are invited to join Chancellor DiStefano and Provost Moore for the annual presentation of CU Boulder faculty awards and the introduction of faculty members receiving tenure and promotion. The ceremony will be preceded by two programs earlier in the day, hosted in collaboration with Family Weekend.

The city of Boulder and the county are working on an update of the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan, which guides development in the valley. Part of that may include a proposal to annex a 308-acre parcel of land south of the city that could support the university’s long-term growth needs. On Monday, city and county officials will host an open house to give the community a chance to learn more about the plan update and to provide input.

When you don’t add captions to your video, you make it difficult not just for the student trying to watch your video in a busy coffee shop, but also for someone in a quiet space such as a library, someone with a hearing loss or someone who struggles with understanding a speaker’s dialect. The Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Safety is responsible for broad oversight, planning, organization and coordination of all campus safety functions for CU Boulder. These responsibilities include campus police, environmental, health and safety, oversight of crisis management and coordination of campus-wide response teams in the event of an emergency. Current, regular CU Boulder employee are welcomed to submit application materials through Monday, Oct. 3.

Weather permitting, Facilities Management Outdoor Services staff will be applying an organic dry poultry waste fertilizer to campus lawns between Wednesday, Sept. 21 and Friday, Sept. 30.

In order to accommodate construction for the new CASE building, the Euclid Autopark is scheduled to close for 14 weeks, from Oct. 10 through Jan. 13.

The University of Colorado School of Law's Getches-Wilkinson Center will hold the 2016 Schultz Lecture in Energy on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the Wolf Law Building, Wittemyer Courtroom. Paul L. Joskow, president, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, will give the lecture, which is free and open to the public. Joskow will speak about "Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the Electric Power Sector." Registration is required.

The Boulder County Bomb Squad was on campus last night to investigate a suspicious device. Upon investigation, it was determined to be a bottle with harmless liquid. While it ended without incident, it serves as an opportune reminder that we all need to be good bystanders.
