Last week n National Video Games Day, Sept. 12, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Foundation, the philanthropic arm of ESA, named Denzil Bilson as a recipient of the ESA Foundation Computer and Video Game Arts Scholarshipta scholarship program designed to empower and inspire the next generation of game creators.

Out of countless applications, Bilson is one of 35 students across the nation who will receive a scholarship from a pool of more than $100K. The Aurora resident was awarded $3,000 each to support his passion for a career in the video game industry. Bilson says he loves video games because they allow him to have fun and experience life safely. 

The ESA Foundation is dedicated to making the video game workforce more diverse and inclusive. To date, the ESA Foundation has gifted more than $20 million as a part of its scholarship and grant initiatives.

“Today’s gamer population is more diverse than ever, and it is our mission to foster an inclusive environment for gamers of every background, gender and sexual orientation,” said Gordon Bellamy, president and CEO of GGP. “In partnership with the ESA Foundation, we are committed to providing a platform for all voices to be heard.”
