As state attorneys general, including Colorado’s Phil Weiser, begin investigations into tech companies like Facebook and Google, University of Colorado Law School experts are available for media interviews on antitrust and privacy issues.
On privacy issues: Margot Kaminski, associate law professor and director of the Privacy Institute at Silicon Flatirons, can talk about the privacy issues at play with companies mining, owning and selling vast amounts of personal data.
“Investigations into platform power are an important, even essential, aspect of protecting consumers and citizens from data abuses,” said Kaminski. “But as we can see from the flood of recent state and federal efforts, we also need better data privacy law.”

On antitrust issues: John A. Francis, a Colorado Law instructor, has been an antitrust attorney for more than 30 years. He can discuss the issues with tech companies getting too big and controlling too much on the internet.
