This semester, a CU Boulder authoring and revising committee delivered the campus’s first-ever diversity plan, titled the Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence in Academics (IDEA) Plan.
The plan, which is up for campus review on the website of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement (ODECE) through the end of business on Dec.14, is a continuously renewing blueprint for action to promote diversity and improve equity for all underrepresented people on the campus.
The plan is the culmination of more than six months’ work by the IDEA Plan authoring and revising committees. It is designed to be an evolving, working plan that continuously engages the CU Boulder community in reflection and action to transform our campus climate and to relocate diversity and equity work as a key, central priority of the campus.
The IDEA Plan outlines goals for progress in three key areas: climate, infrastructure and leadership at CU Boulder, and identifies actions to enable the plan’s three goals. Its emphasis on permanent structural change that enables individuals to find their fit on campus.
Community members can still attend two town halls on Dec. 14 and can provide input to the plan by submitting two-page papers online.
To date, the revising and authoring committee has met with over 400 CU Boulder community members in discussing the shape of the plan. Following the conclusion of the community review period on Dec. 14, the IDEA Plan revising committee will make additional changes to the plan, with the goal of submitting it to the chancellor’s cabinet for review and acceptance in early 2019.
