Top 25 or better: CU Boulder ranks high in football and a whole lot more

Aerial view of Old Main and Flatirons The Buff football team has cracked the top 25 in national rankings for the second time this season, which led the campus community to wonder: What other programs and teams are ranked in the top 25? As it turns out, CU Boulder has quite a lot of leadership to be proud of.

In the 2017 edition of U.S. News & World Report best colleges rankings, CU Boulder’s undergraduate-level programs among public universities are ranked as follows: Engineering (18), business (21). Within engineering, programs are ranked as follows: Aerospace engineering (8), chemical engineering (12)

In the 2017 edition of U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings, CU Boulder physics again holds the No. 1 spot for atomic/molecular/optical physics. The university’s ceramics program is in the No. 5 spot, with the aerospace engineering program at No. 8.

In addition, the graduate-level environmental law program is ranked eighth, while education policy is ranked 10th. Joining them in the top 25 are clinical psychology (16), audiology (17), physics (18), earth sciences (23), speech-language pathology (24) and chemistry (24).

In the 2017 edition of U.S. News & World Report global rankings, CU Boulder geological sciences again has been ranked No. 2 in the world.

In addition to football, other CU athletics teams are ranked nationally. Just last week, the women’s cross country team was ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time since 2005, and the red-hot women’s soccer team is currently ranked No. 16. Men’s cross country now boasts a No. 7 ranking and men’s golf is No. 19.
