A stampede of Ralphie-impersonating canines is headed for the University of Colorado’s Homecoming Parade on Friday, Sept. 26, on University Hill in Boulder.

The Buffs plays Wyoming on Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.

“As part of the parade, we're inviting contestants to dress their dogs like Ralphie and compete for big prizes," said Jen McLaughlin, Homecoming parade coordinator.

Set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, the parade also will include the CU cheerleaders and Marching Band, various floats and Buffs football players from the class of '85 attending their class reunion. The parade will start at 13th and Pleasant streets, go south to College Avenue, east to 14th Street, south to Euclid Avenue and west back to 13th Street.

The parade is one of the many Friday events planned by the Student Organization for Alumni Relations. Giveaways, games and music begin at 2:30 p.m. The Hill’s 13th Street will be blocked off until 7:30 p.m., and KBCO will broadcast live all afternoon from mid-block.

Local band Opie Gone Bad and CU's female a cappella group All Rights Reserved will perform. Adventurers can test the climbing wall and try their luck in the buffalo chip throwing contest or the student government tri-executives dunk booth.

On Saturday a pre-game barbecue and post-game bash will be sponsored by the CU-Boulder Alumni Association. The pre-game "big tent" begins at 11:30 a.m. on the Duane Physics lawn, directly south of the stadium on Colorado Boulevard.

Music will be provided by the Crystal Swing Band. Admission and non-alcoholic beverages will be free, the barbecue lunch will cost $5.

KBCO will co-sponsor the post-game event, also on the Duane Physics lawn, following the Buffs’ football match-up with Wyoming.
