Shira is passionate about the interface between environmental education and theatre, and looks forward to exploring this idea in theory and in practice at CU Boulder. After earning her BA in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland (2009), Shira moved to Israel, where she earned her MA in Geography and Environmental Development and published research on the environmental impact of food systems. In Israel, Shira worked as an environmental consultant while becoming a founding member of The Stage TLV- Tel Aviv's premier English-speaking performing arts community. At The Stage, Shira made her Israeli acting debut in The Vagina Monologues (2014), assistant directed Miscast!, Less Grease, More Hairspray (2015), served as an associate artistic director of the theatre from 2014-2016, and VP of Community Productions from 2015-2016. When she is not on or behind a stage, Shira enjoys climbing obstacle courses, exploring new places, petting dogs, and making vegan food.
