While the Department of Theatre & Dance has several performances each semester and a busy summer season, we occasionally rent our venues or studios when there's availability. Please read our rental request process and policies below if you are interested in renting a performance venue or studio space in our department.

Scheduling

After all academic scheduling of classes, rehearsals, and performances is complete there are limited opportunities for rentals of our department performance venues and studio spaces. Individuals or organizations wishing to submit a rental request should email thdnreservations@colorado.edu and include the following information:

  • Event date(s) and time(s)
  • Description of event
  • Event Director/Coordinator's name, phone number, and email address
  • Lighting/Audio/Equipment needs

If the date is available, the request will be sent to the Production Coordinator and Department Chair for approval. Please allow at least 5 business days for a return message.

Rental Costs

Costs vary depending on the type of event, but will generally include:

The Facility Rental Fee varies depending on whether it is a University event or an event produced by an off-campus organization. Multi-day event rental prices are available.

Renters and organizations not part of the University of Colorado must provide proof of insurance prior to any activity related to the event. The most common amount is $1,000,000.

The Department of Theatre & Dance requires renters to use our personnel for all aspects of the event, including set up, rehearsal and performance. Fee includes stage technicians, house manager, ushers, box office staff, and custodians as needed.

This cost includes any equipment used for your event such as sound and lighting systems, piano, risers, props, etc.
