Desperate hand reaching through avalanche of phones and pharmaceuticals

By Lisa Loomer
Directed by Kristofer Buxton

This smartly crafted play fuses together comedy and drama to examine the way modern society confronts mental health challenges. When Jesse's mother finds out her son has attention-deficit disorder, she will stop at nothing to find a solution—but several rounds of medications and therapy sessions test her patience, her marriage and her sanity. “Distracted” is about more than just one boy’s diagnosis: it’s about the social costs we pay in our preoccupied, multitasking 21st-century world.
