There are obvious challenges that we have tried to overcome with laptops and laptop carts such as battery life, OS updates, expensive hardware, asset management, security, and slow boot times. What if one solution took care of all those challenges? In this talk, I’ll discuss how you can utilize Google Chromebooks with Chrome Enterprise to solve a lot of the common challenges surrounding:
- Mobile Lab setup
- Asset Management
- Expensive hardware (Mac or PC)
- OS maintenance
UCCS has used this solution to provide an easy way to get orientation students registered for classes, sign into Excel Centers, provide mobile testing labs, and more, all without having to worry about security, OS updating and battery issues.
There will be live demonstration of provisioning and asset management during this talk.
About the Speaker
Greg Williams is the OIT Director of Operations for UCCS. He has been at the university for the past 10 years and has also taught in the Department of Computer Science for the past 5 years. Being both faculty and staff has allowed him to provide unique solutions that have taken the complexity out of the “traditional way of computing” and provide better end to end solutions for students. In addition, Greg is involved in many CU wide campus initiatives surrounding cloud, networking, and communications.
