Staff updates from Career Services

Erin Penberthy
Erin Penberthy has moved into a new role. She’ll be a Career Advisor and Outreach Specialist to increase students’ awareness of and engagement with Career Services. Additionally, she presents CliftonStrengths to staff and students. Erin first began working for Career Services as a junior at CU Boulder. As a Peer Career Advisor (PCA), she conducted outreach and presentations on professional development topics to fellow students. After graduating with her BA in Psychology, Erin worked for a local technology company recruiting interns and supporting the development of a formalized internship program. Though she learned a great deal in this role, Erin missed higher education and returned to Career Services in a full-time capacity. She worked as an employer relations specialist for several years, assisting organizations with campus engagement and recruitment, and completed her MA in Education and Human Development from the University of Colorado Denver. Erin now works in a career development advising capacity, partnering with students around major and career exploration, resumes and cover letters, interviewing skills, job and internship search and graduate school applications.

Jaye Lampe
Jaye Lampe is an Engineering Employer Relations Specialist and Career Development Advisor. She completed her Master’s in Counseling and Career Development at Colorado State University in July 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in System’s Analysis from the University of Dayton. Jaye’s career includes 30 years of geospatial/scientific software development, customization, services, sales and leadership. She is excited to work with students, and to share her love of the world of work and career development. She enjoys supporting the exploration of the innate strengths, values and interests that make each of us unique and mapping this to the needs of employers. This impacts everything from the way we create our resumes to the way we choose a major and make job and career decisions. Additionally, as an Employer Relations Specialist, Jaye works with employers interested in learning more about how to connect with and recruit CU Buffs!

Mindy Hurd
Mindy Hurd is the Career Development Advisor for International Students. She is passionate about helping international students flourish in their career development. Mindy has been involved in many areas of working with students throughout her career as a teacher, tutor, coach, and advisor. She completed her Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education and Student Affairs from CU Denver in 2018. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in Spanish. In her spare time, Mindy enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, family and friends, getting to the mountains and traveling to new places.

 

Journey Leader volunteer nominations

New Student & Family Programs is seeking students to join the Journey Leader volunteer team. Journey Leaders are part of a diverse team of CU Boulder students who volunteer to welcome new students and families to CU Boulder. This position provides a rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth. Staff and faculty are encouraged to nominate all students they feel would succeed in the role, and there is no limit on nominations. Please submit nominations by Feb. 22, 2019.
