Job Summary

The Web Communications department seeks a student Software Engineer to be part of a team that is responsible for an enterprise level Software as a Service and to participate in all aspects of software development from the initial specification, through to developing, testing and launching. Successful candidates will need to be capable of and excited to learn new, modern programming languages, frameworks and techniques.  If you're passionate about creating dynamic, reponsive, assessible, and modern web experiences we want to talk to you.  

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Core work duties include:

  • Programming, development (50%)
    • Work as a member of a team to define and implement solutions to extend our product offerings. This includes extending the Drupal framework with new capabilities by configuring & implementing Drupal community and custom modules; developing scripts and applications to operate the Web Express service; and developing new applications to meet future needs.

  • Testing, QA, Maintenance and Documentation (50%)
    • Work as a member of a team to improve and run testing processes/protocols for quality assurance, validating code, find/fix bugs.

    • Create documentation for existing protocols, refine existing documentation when processes change and develop documentation for new applications.

What We Require

  • 1+ years of web development or script programing experience

  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, or CSS

What We'd Like You to Have

  • Drupal or Wordpress experience
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js or jQuery
  • Experience with PHP or other scripting languages

  • Be willinging and motivated to learn new programming tools, technologies and frameworks

  • have an active interest in current web development and concepts

  • be able to work semi-independently and meet reasonable development milestones

Who We Are 

The Web Communications team is part of Strategic Relations and Communications.  We're primarily responible for creating the tools and technologies required for maintaining and extending CU Boulder websites, including colorado.edu.  We're located on the 5th floor of the ARC building in the East Campus.    

Compensation

We typically pay between $13 and $15 per hour
