Lucía Escamilla was born and raised in Spain. She moved to the US in July 2019. She is currently pursuing a MA program in Peninsular and Spanish American Literature at the same time as she is teaching Spanish as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder.

She holds a MA in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Alcala. She received a BA in English Linguistics, British and North American Literature from the University of Sevilla. She also studied abroad and specialized in Hispanic Studies at the University of Iceland.

She is interested in research on Hispanic cultures, society, immigration, identity, literature and language in the US, US-Spain cultural, literary and historical relations, as well as Literature and Urban Spaces.
