Biography

Before becoming a full-time graduate student at CU Boulder, Katie Mercer received her B.A. in Sociology at the University of Vermont. As an undergraduate intern, she focused on gender differences in parenting amongst incarcerated individuals in Vermont. Katie spent two years following her undergraduate degree teaching English as a Second Language in South Korea and Vietnam. After returning to the U.S., she spent one year working as a research associate at the University of Texas at Austin’s public policy department, with a focus on research around sexual education programs and youth. Her research interests include sexuality, gender, and the family.
