Instruments:

  • Bioanalyzer 2100

The Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer system provides sizing, quantitation and quality control of DNA, RNA and proteins.  It uses similar technology as gel electrophoresis, yet on a smaller scale with minimal sample consumption (1-4uL).  Samples travel through micro-channels, electrophoretically separated and detected by fluorescence which is translated into an electropherogram and a gel-like image. The concentration detection range for DNA is 5pg/uL-50ug/uL, and the size detection range is from 25bp-12000bp.

  • Illumina MiSeq

Illumina sequencer, able to sequence prepared Illumina DNA or RNA libraries at low- to mid- output (0.75 to 13 Gbp per run).

  • Illumina NextSeq

Illumina sequencer capable of sequencing Illumina DNA or RNA libraries. The NextSeq is a high-output instrument, capable of sequencing 16 Gbp to 120 Gbp per run.

  • QuantStudio 6 Real-Time PCR

The QuantStudio 6 uses a fluorescence detection method for quantitative and qualitative analysis of nucleic acid sequences including gene expression, regulation and variation. This system is compatible with SYBR and TaqMan assays as well as several other dye assays.  It can detect as small as a 1.5 fold change with 10 logs of linear dynamic range.

  • Qubit Fluorimeter 3.0

The Qubit 3.0 Fluorimeter is capable of measuring DNA or RNA concentrations with high accuracy. The dye used in the different kits fluoresces only when bound to dsDNA or RNA, allowing the instrument to report the concentration of the molecule of interest.
