Science Discovery has designed its cancellation policy to minimize the number of program spots that are unused due to last-minute cancellations.

Cancellations made more than 15 business days prior to the start of the camp/class will incur a $35 administrative fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 15 business days of the start of the camp/class. In the event that a program is canceled by Science Discovery, registrants will receive a full refund.

Transfer requests made up to 15 days prior to the start of a camp/class will incur a $15 administrative fee. Transfer requests made within 15 business days will incur a $35 administrative fee.

Due to the unique circumstances surrounding materials distribution and virtual classroom access, Science Discovery is unable to offer refunds for virtual programs once materials have been distributed or shipped.

Please note: CU Science Discovery reserves the right to remove any student from the program if s/he displays any behavior that is harmful to others and/or disruptive to the camp/class. Under these circumstances, a refund would not be issued.

What is a typical day like in a Science Discovery virtual summer program?

All Science Discovery virtual programs are designed to combine synchronous class meeting time (facilitated over Zoom, password protected) with asynchronous activities that participants can do on their own time, including on-screen activities as well as hands-on experiments and design and build activities that use physical materials. All programs are facilitated by a lead instructor with additional support provided by a teaching assistant. Specific program schedules, including the length of on-screen meeting times and instructor office hours, vary among different age groups and program topics. Please see website descriptions for specific details regarding program length and schedule.

What materials do I need to purchase for my child's virtual program?

For most programs, Science Discovery will provide a materials kit containing nearly everything your child will need. Materials kits will be available for curbside pick-up the week before the program begins (details will be sent via email) or may be shipped to your address (additional shipping fee applies). You may need to provide some common household materials, such as scissors, tape, crayons or recyclables. Please see the program description on the Science Discovery website for more specific information about required materials. Please note: some tech-focused programs (e.g., Minecraft Adventure, Programming with Python, etc.) do not include or require extra materials, due to the nature of the activities being done.
