June 7-11 (Online registration closes June 3. Call 303-492-7188 to register after this date.)
Drop-Off Location: CU Boulder Main Campus
Note: STEM Mash-Ups consist of morning and afternoon segments that cover two different topics, creating a well-rounded day.
Throughout this camp, we will plan, storyboard, design and shoot our movies. Subsequently, we will explore post-production, where we will edit our films, add music, titles and sound effects. Along the way, we will learn some secrets for creating and producing stop motion movies. This is an awesome opportunity to get some film and video editing experience while balancing creativity, planning and fun!
Pixel Power: Bloxels Video Game Design
Welcome to the colorful game design world of Bloxels EDU where we'll use a rainbow of colors to create interactive stories and games! Whether we want to create a high-flying mission to Mars or a mermaid adventure beneath the sea, we'll use color to code the backgrounds, characters, obstacles and enemies for our own unique video games. We'll learn about the art of animation as we modify characters to walk, run and leap. We'll develop a story for our game - including its setting, characters and challenges - and tell that story through story blocks. Throughout the week, we'll test our games with each other and provide feedback to our fellow game designers, so that everyone has an opportunity to improve their video games! When we're done, we'll design a special box to promote our games, and share our designs through our class portal. Please note: This camp requires the purchase of a Bloxels Personal Edition kit ($40), which includes an ongoing subscription to the Bloxels game-building platform.
