Note: STEM Mash-Ups consist of morning and afternoon segments that cover two different topics, creating a well-rounded day.

Clay Creations
Come create some cute clay animals while learning about what elements of their habitats help them survive in the wild! In this class, we will work with both air dry clay and oven bake polymer clay while exploring techniques and clay tools to help our animals become life-like and unique. We will form clay animals and their habitats such as native plants, animals homes and elements from the environment. Each day we will create a full habitat diorama for our clay animals to live in.

(Not So) Mad Scientists
Did you know that reactions are happening all around us, even within us all the time? Driven by curiosity, we'll explore the magic of chemistry in our everyday lives as we learn about atoms, molecules, elements and compounds, and test our theories with various experiments. We'll create hydrophobic sand to understand the dynamic power of water. Using acids and bases, we'll create exothermic and endothermic reactions. Next, we'll learn to measure pH and play with polymers, such as bubble gum and plastics. Finally, we'll explore simple chemical and physical reactions that appear to be magic, and use a bit of Chem-ARTistry to create our own one-of-a-kind t-shirt to take home!

Masks are required to be worn for all in-person programs. All participants will receive a short health screening and a thermal temperature check upon arrival to the check-in area for each class gathering.

What to Bring: Because this is a full-day, in-person camp, participants are required to bring the following to each camp:

  • Backpack for carrying their personal items and any camp materials they will be taking home. Note: In order to limit individual interactions, all participants will be required to keep their items together.
  • A mask appropriately sized to cover the child's nose and mouth and any additional Personal Protective Equipment the child will be utilizing. Note: Wearing of masks will be required for all participants.
  • Filled water bottle.
  • A sack lunch and 1-2 snacks, depending on the child's needs.
  • All programs spend a portion of each day outside. Please send your child with clothing appropriate for the weather (jacket, sweatshirt and/or rain jacket.).

Grade Policy: Careful consideration is used to determine grade levels for all camps and classes. To provide the highest quality experience for all students, it is necessary to adhere to the specified grade range for this program.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy: Science Discovery has designed its cancellation policy to minimize the number of program spots that are unused due to last-minute cancellations. Cancellations made more than 15 business days prior to the start of the program will incur a $35 administrative fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 15 business days of the start of the program. In the event that a program is cancelled by Science Discovery, registrants will receive a full refund. Transfer requests made up to 15 days prior to the start of a program will incur a $15 administrative fee. Transfer requests made within 15 business days will incur a $35 administrative fee.
