Sadegh Yazdi, Ph.D., is a Research Associate Professor at the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI), and the Director of the Facility for Electron Microscopy of Materials (CU FEMM) at the University of Colorado. His research interests include developing novel electron microscopy techniques for exploring the links between the underlying atomic arrangements of energy-related materials and their performance, properties, and synthesis. To characterize nanostructures at atomic levels, Sadegh uses advanced electron microscopy techniques such as aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (AC-STEM), low-voltage and monochromated high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), off-axis electron holography (OAEH), monochromated electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), electron tomography (ET), and a wide range of in-situ electron microscopy techniques.
