Bill Tumas, Ph.D.

Bill Tumas is the director for the Chemical and Materials Science Center in Energy Sciences at NREL. He came to NREL from Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he held positions of increasing responsibility since 1994. Most recently, as program director of Applied Energy Programs, he was responsible for management, sponsor interface, and development of Los Alamos R&D programs in renewable energy, energy efficiency, infrastructure, and fossil energy. Tumas has extensive research and management experience, and a number of publications and patents in several different areas. Prior to Los Alamos, he worked at DuPont Central Research.
