Stories for Your Senses is an exhibit created by Build a Better Book highlighting the work of tactile artists Ann Cunningham, Jenni Callahan Holcomb, Luanne Burke, and student projects from partner sites around the country. This exhibit explores the variety of ways that stories can be interpreted, expressed, and shared outside of traditional formats for books and games and in ways that help us learn with all our senses.

The Build a Better Book project works with school and library Makerspaces to engage youth in the design and creation of inclusive media. Working with picture books and games, youth designers use a variety of Makerspace tools to incorporate tactile and audio features for learners who are blind or have low-vision. Through the project, participants develop technology skills, incorporate Design Thinking and Inclusive Design principles, and build empathy as they design and create products that can be seen, touched and heard.
The Build a Better Book project is based at the University of Colorado Boulder and is supported by the National Science Foundation (DRL-1615247).
