The CU in D.C. program, administered by CU Education Abroad, allows students the opportunity to spend a semester in Washington D.C. and put classroom learning into real world action. The program combines a professional internship in the daytime, with CU courses in the evening. Students participate over a full semester, summer, or Maymester (fall, spring, and summer are for students from all majors, while Maymester is for students who are interested in science policy). Through professional internships in Washington D.C., students have the opportunity to apply knowledge they've gained in their college classes to the professional work environment.  They gain practical, hands-on professional experience in the exciting and fast-paced world of the nation’s capital.

The CU in D.C. program is part of a broader initiative by the University of Colorado to develop a more visible presence in Washington D.C. and to develop future leaders.  The program is housed in CU Education Abroad so that it serves students at the campus-level and is open to students from all majors and all colleges.  Through the experience, students connect with professionals, leaders, alumni, and policymakers, and they develop new skills and professional interests. Students intern in a wide variety of sectors in D.C., such as: political offices, government agencies, nonprofits, think-tanks, and businesses. As interns, they develop confidence and gain the professional experience and exposure they will need to succeed after graduation.  Washington D.C. is a rigorous and ideal training ground for young people, and through CU in D.C., participants are transformed from students into leaders and competent professionals.

If you are ready for a challenge and a transformational experience, CU in D.C. may be for you!
