John Scarano is a multi-industry entrepreneur, operating executive, serial investor and graduate school instructor. Presently, John is CEO of Wyyerd Group, a community-focused communications services provider, deploying and operating network infrastructure across US and Canada, one community at a time. John is a Board member for Burlywood Inc., a software-defined flash storage business. John serves as a Graduate Instructor for the Technology, Cybersecurity and Policy in the school of Engineering for the University of Colorado.
Previously, John was co-CEO of Project Transition, a health care provider supporting persons with serious, persistent brain- health needs. Before this, John was Vice Chairman, CFO and EVP of euNetworks Group Ltd, a publicly traded pan-Western Europe competitive telecom services provider, based London, UK. From its inception through 2010, John co-founded and was COO of Zayo Group and President of its core business unit, Zayo Bandwidth. Before this, John was EVP of ICG Communications Inc. leading operations and its distribution to Level 3 Communications and six other entities. And before this, John was responsible from its inception for deploying Level 3 Communications’ North American network, then for its global business development.
Before Level 3, John held various positions in global operations and network and business development at MFS Communications (acquired by WorldCom). John began his communications infrastructure career in product management, systems analysis and development at AT&T and Bell Laboratories (before becoming Alcatel-Lucent).
In 1990, John was an elected as Town Board Member in Orange County, NY, holding the offices of Councilman and Deputy Supervisor for 7 years before resigning to join the founding team of Level 3.
John received a combined Degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the State University of New York at Albany in 1987.
