Erik Thomson is a Vice President of Sales and is responsible for a 60+ person global organization at Zayo Group, a telecommunications firm headquartered in Boulder. Erik currently leads the Premier Accounts team. Additionally, Erik leads the Bid Management team and a technical sales engineering organization. Previously, Erik led the Strategic Marketing and Partnerships team, building relationships with partners to find mutually beneficial results. Erik has also led the Big Data, IT Operations, and IT Finance teams. Erik established vendor management processes and enabled technical leaders at Zayo to complete technical projects by guiding them through ROI, internal stakeholder management, risk assessments, and vendor negotiations.
Prior to his work at Zayo, Erik was a Business Partner at Goldman Sachs, conducting data analysis and coaching managers at the firm. Erik’s public sector experience comes via the Marine Corps, where he served as a Scout Sniper Platoon Commander and Aerial Interdiction Force Commander. Erik led a counter-narcotics raid force consisting of Marines, DEA, and the Afghan National Interdiction Unit in southern Afghanistan and helped build the Afghan Sniper School curriculum while training the first graduates.
Erik received his B.A. in English from Colorado State University and his MBA from University of Colorado – Denver.
