Brandon Shaffer

Brandon joined the St. Vrain Valley School District in September, 2015. He has a multi-faceted position involving legal and policy analysis, business development, and Pathways in Technology Early College High School. He works closely with teachers and administrators to support educational achievement in the district.

Prior to joining SVVSD, Brandon was appointed by Governor Hickenlooper to be the Chairperson of the Colorado Parole Board. He served on the Parole Board for 2.5 years as a dedicated public servant.

Brandon is a former Colorado State Senator. First elected in 2004, he represented Senate District 17, encompassing Longmont, Erie, Lafayette and Louisville. He was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Senate from 2009-2012. Previously, he served as Senate Majority Leader, Senate Assistant Majority Leader, and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman.

Brandon is a graduate of Stanford University and CU Law School. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1993-1997 and has been a licensed attorney in Colorado since 2001.
