Project Description

Research and development of the ytterbium optical lattice clock.  This will include advanced laser stabilization, studies of systematic effects in optical clocks, and efforts to enhance quantum measurement techniques in optical clocks.

Research Interests

Developing optical lattice clocks by improving its accuracy and stability as a future primary frequency standard, with emphasis on suppressing the blackbody radiation uncertainty by upgrading the room-temperature Yb optical lattice clock to cryogenic operation.
