R&S Staff at 2017 Taste of PLC

Eileen Klawitter and Alice Mueller at the 2017 Taste of PLC

The Recruitment and Selection Coordinator(s) (R&S) work with the PLC Ambassadors to assist the Director of Recruitment & Selection and the PLC professional staff in all aspects of the recruitment and selection process. The position predominantly focuses on recruiting future PLCers, with a small portion being the actual selection of students for the cohort; however, this position is crucial to the future success of PLC. The recruitment phase (August-March) consists of presenting to current PLCers (Take PLC Home), potential students (Taste of PLC, Boettcher Semifinalist day, Be a PLCer) and general communications (composing emails, talking and meeting with students, and establishing the PLC brand) with relevant parties. Applicants for the position should be aware that the middle of spring semester is incredibly busy with application reading, interviews, and student selection and as such, should consider having a lighter course load during the Spring 2020 semester. Applicants should also be aware of the amount of “behind the scenes” work related to the position (sending thousands of emails, compared to only a few presentations). Recruitment and Selection is an incredibly rewarding position that allows students to have a visible and lasting impact on the program. Strong candidates are students who have a passion for the program, take initiative, have very strong verbal and written communication skills, and have the tenacity to meet the demands of the position.

Recruitment and Selection Coordinators, if two, work best when they have common days/times off during the week.  If you are planning to apply with a specific working partner in mind, please try to coordinate schedules to allow for good working office hours. If only one coordinator is hired, it is best to coordinate schedules with the Director of R&S.
