Jonathan Spelman
Dr. Jonathan Spelman received his doctoral degree in philosophy from the University of Colorado Boulder in the summer of 2017. He specializes in normative ethics and metaethics, and in his dissertation, Moral Obligation, Evidence, and Belief, he argued that an individual's moral obligations depend on his or her beliefs about what is morally best.

While at CU Boulder, Dr. Spelman published a review of Michael J. Zimmerman’s book Ignorance and Moral Obligation, gave numerous talks, and taught six different courses. During the 2016-2017 academic year, he served as the department’s lead graduate student teacher and received two awards from CU Boulder’s Graduate Teacher Program, The Best Should Teach Silver Award and an Excellence in Graduate Teaching Leadership Award. 

Dr. Spelman is currently a visiting assistant professor of philosophy at Ohio Northern University. While at Ohio Northern, Dr. Spelman has taught environmental ethics, food ethics, logic, philosophy of law, and professional ethics.
