Teaching in Fall 19: PHIL 1000 sec 004, 005
I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Most of my work focuses on epistemology and its history. My interests in epistemology regard belief control, epistemic or doxastic obligations, rationality, testimony, evidence, and the nature and status of faith. Regarding history, I'm especially interested in Locke and Descartes, as well as some of their predecessors (especially Aquinas) and successors (especially Reid). I am also interested in environmental philosophy. My work has appeared in the Archiv fur Geschichte der Philosophie, Res Philosophica, Religious Studies, Journal of Scottish Philosophy and is forthcoming in Synthese, British Journal for the History of Philosophy and a Routledge edited volume, The Lockean Mind.
Outside of philosophy, I enjoy hiking, playing guitar and piano, various forms of carpentry, and, most of all, spending time with my wife, Emily, and daughter, Zoe.
