I'm a senior instructor in the philosophy department. I earned my B.A. in political science and philosophy from Northwestern University in 1992 and my Ph.D. in philosophy from CU in 2002. My dissertation was an account of the aesthetic appreciation of nature and how it relates to our aesthetic appreciation of art.
I also direct an outreach program (POPCO) which introduces high school students to philosophy. I live in Lyons, CO and I love spending time with my wife and two kids (Emerson and Annalise) and I love to play outdoors—primarily backcountry skiing, mountain biking, and fishing.
Teaching interests: I am primarily interested in applied ethics and social and political philosophy.
