Tanaya Winder is a poet, writer, artist, and educator who was raised on the Southern Ute reservation in Ignacio, CO. An enrolled member of the Duckwater Shoshone Tribe, her background includes Southern Ute, Pyramid Lake Paiute, Navajo, and Black Heritages.
She has a BA in English from Stanford University and a MFA in creative writing from the University of New Mexico. Tanaya has taught writing courses at Stanford University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the University of New Mexico. She is a co-founder and editor-in-chief of As/Us: A Space for Women of the World.
Tanaya started with CUUB as a student in high school, she later returned to serve as a Resident Advisor in the summer of 2007. She has since returned as an Instructor Assistant, Instructor, and Resident Supervisor. In 2009, she began working as the Assistant Director until 2013 when she became the Director of the Program.
