Cassie Sando was raised on the Jemez Pueblo reservation in New Mexico. She is a citizen of the Pueblo of Jemez and has Diné and Spokane heritages. She is a first-generation scholar and received her BA in Economics from Boston College in 2017 and her MA in Higher Education from the University of Denver in 2020.

Cassie participated in the CU Upward Bound program as a high school student and later returned to be a residential advisor (RA), a residential supervisor (RS), the assistant director, and now the director. In addition to working with CUUB, Cassie has worked with the Native American Community and Partnerships at the University of Denver, College Horizons, and the American Indian College Fund in various capacities. She enjoys going for hikes, trail running, and spending time with her cats, Gamora and Tobasco!
