Catherine Klauss, JILA LinkedIn
Dr. Catherine Klauss is the science communicator at JILA, the joint physics research institute of the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Institutes of Standards and Technology. She received her doctorate in physics from CU Boulder, where she manipulated ultracold atoms with lasers and large magnetic fields, under the advisement of Nobel Laureate Eric Cornell and the late MacArthur Fellow Deborah Jin.

Amy Hermundstad Nave is a faculty developer in the Trefny Center at the Colorado School of Mines. Originally from Colorado, she earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State before going on to earn her Ph.D. in Engineering Education and Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Amy’s research interests include engineering students’ professional development and efforts to support underrepresented students within engineering, primarily using qualitative research methods to investigate a variety of perspectives on these topics. She has also done research on conceptual understanding in engineering courses and studied the variation in cultures between engineering departments and disciplines.

Alexis Attwood, Droplet Measurement Technologies
Alexis Attwood Badder, PhD is Droplet’s primary contact for researchers and scientists studying bioaerosols, black carbon, or cloud condensation nuclei. Her instrument focus at Droplet includes WIBS-NEO, SP2, CCN, PAX, UHSAS, and SP2-XR. Alexis earned her Ph.D. in Atmospheric Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire and continued with postdoctoral research at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Her research focused on ground based measurement of aerosol optical properties and their impacts on the atmosphere as well as instrument design and development

Lauren Czaplicki D’Antonio, PhD is an environmental engineer, mycologist, science communicator, and entrepreneur based out of Boulder, CO. She is passionate about finding ways to sustainably clean-up the environment and inspiring others to do so. Lauren is a past Duke Superfund trainee, Pratt School of Engineering Fellow, and Dean’s Graduate Fellow. She recently founded Science by Design, LLC, a company that brings together her two loves: mycoremediation and science communication. Science by Design moves mycoremediation projects forward and helps technologists design engaging science communication strategies.

Cory earned his PhD in organic chemistry in 2007 from CU-Boulder and he did his Post-Doc at the Colorado school of Mines. Currently, he is the Director of materials development in Lightwave Logic, Inc. He manages a team of chemists and physicists making polymers for high-speed electro-optic modulators used in Telecom/Datacom applications.

Jared Snider is the co-founder and COO of Samba Scientific, a technical marketing company that serves the diagnostic and life science industry. After earning a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology and a post-doctoral fellowship in radiation oncology, Jared joined Thermo Fisher Scientific as a technical content specialist, where he got his feet wet learning about marketing and business in a giant biotech. He then joined a small startup, ArcherDX, as marketing manager and gained first-hand experience building a brand from the ground up. After 8+ years marketing for other companies, Jared co-founded his own marketing firm and spends his days managing a team to build brands and support client marketing initiative.
