Sue has been part of the office since 2016, where she leads and implements communications strategies for CU Boulder outreach programs that connect to communities with limited access to educational resources.
In this capacity, Sue builds collaborative communications networks on and off campus, writes outreach stories, directs the office's Facebook and Twitter engagement strategy, oversees scope and design of marketing materials, built our office website, assists in managing the outreach programs website and provides communications support related to campus outreach. She works closely with departments across campus to amplify their engaged scholarship.
A writer for more than 30 years, Sue began her career as a newspaper reporter in Michigan and California where she covered K-12 and higher education in rural and urban communities, focusing on educational inequity. She also has worked as an editor, a public relations and development director at a K-8 school, a science and technology writer, and a curriculum writer for two community-based nonprofits in Denver that work with underrepresented students. Sue received her bachelor's in history from Northwestern University and her master's in journalism from the University of Michigan.
