Danielle Aguilar
Engaged Arts and Humanities Scholar 2022-23
School of Education

Danielle N. Aguilar grew up in Ontario, CA. Like much of the Inland Empire region, Ontario has agricultural roots, however has transitioned to an industrial and manufacturing hub in recent decades. Ontario is primarily a working class Latinx community, which has influenced Danielle's passion for community and racial justice centered research. Danielle is a first generation college student pursuing a PhD in Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice program. She received an M.Ed. from the University of Vermont and a BA in Feminist Studies and minor in Black Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Danielle's desire to work with young women of color and the school to prison nexus is rooted in her proximity to the carceral system and her academic background.
