Anthropology
Page McClean is a PhD candidate in cultural anthropology. Her dissertation explores conectividad, the Chilean keyword for infrastructural and connective development in the so-called “isolated” region of Aysén. During her time with the CSO she will examine historical narratives from state-sponsored expeditions to research the origins of Chile’s “internal frontier” as a problem to be solved by engineering. She intends to pair her findings with her own ethnographic research to reflect on competing ideas of knowledge and place.
