Jeff’s work in the field of archaeology explores the origins of the state and institutionalized political authority in the ancient world. His dissertation research examines the intersection of religion and politics in Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, with a regional focus on the early complex societies of Pacific coastal Oaxaca, Mexico.
